Paradise Valley Springs first opened to the public in 1939 as a Trout sanctuary. Stuart Hamlett purchased the park from the original owner in 1975, along with his brother John who retired in 2004.
The park is a privately owned family business, with 100% of funds coming directly from our customers.
It has been extensively developed over the last 30 years into the world class attraction that it is today. New developments and upgrades are on-going, and the last three years has seen many exciting additions to the park.

As part of the redevelopment process, 11 acres of adjoining land was purchased in 1996 and in 1998, 20 more acres of untouched native bushland was purchased by Paradise Valley Springs.
Paradise Valley Springs Water Bottling plant was completed in 2002. Water from our on-site spring, Te Waireka (sweet water), is bottled on site and available for all of our visitors to purchase.
The Lion enclosure was enlarged and upgraded in 2002 ensuring more space and shelter areas for the lions, as well as excellent viewing opportunities for our visitors.
A New Zealand Farmwalk was completed in early 2007, showcasing a lively mix of traditional and recently farmed animals.
Our Elevated Treetops Walk opened in December 2007, with a high wooden walkway reaching a height of 6 metres, followed by a peaceful streamside walk.
